Light Night - 2020 “Bioinspiration and Biomimetics”

Technologiepark-Zwijnaarde, IGent-toren, Auditorium 1

Finally the wait for light night of this academic year is over. This time we have invited Prof. Raúl J. Martín-Palma from Applied Physics department, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid to deliver a general talk on Bioinspiration and Biomimetics. Everyone interested is welcome! After the talk, drinks and snacks will be provided.

Nature develops simple, elegant and optimal solutions to deal with its existing challenges. These ideas can also be implemented to shape the new technologies with tailored functionalities. For example, several living organisms have been a powerful source of inspiration to innovations in many different fields such as robotics, medicine, aerospace engineering, sustainable technology and so on. In this talk, we shed light on some intriguing innovations inspired by the living organisms and introduce the multidisciplinary fields of Bioinspiration and Biomimetics which embraces aspects related to physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, material science, nanotechnology, and computing.
